Mastodon
Mastodon is a self-hosted social network that takes part in the fediverse, so your account can follow and be followed by people on other servers. This template runs it with PostgreSQL and Redis; use it for yourself, your family or a small community. Before installing you need a public domain name, with HTTPS served by a reverse proxy: other servers reach yours by that name, and it cannot be changed later. The app serves HTTPS with a self-signed certificate on the Web UI port; point the proxy at that port over https and let it skip checking the certificate. You also generate the push notification (VAPID) keys once with the command in the input's help text. The other secrets are generated for you. Email (SMTP) is optional, but without it Mastodon cannot send sign-up confirmations or notifications; the first account is created from the command line, as the template's comments explain.
